| GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 20 Tusculum College baseball team defeated visiting Pfeiffer University 5-0 on a rainy Wednesday at Pioneer Park. Tusculum (29-10) wins its eighth straight game, while the Pfeiffer falls to 18-19. Handley (4-1) picked up the win as went five innings and scattered four hits before a line of thundershowers halted play for one hour and 12 minutes. Before the rains came, Tusculum scored three runs in the fourth inning as the Pioneers sent nine batters to the plate. Dustin Morrow and Paul Finger led off with singles before Aaron Hudgins drove in the first run of the game on his deep fly ball to the right field gap. Finger later scored on an error, while Christian Rosa drove in Eric Barclay with a base hit. After the rain delay, Tuten relieved Handley in the sixth inning as Pfeiffer's Ryan Harju drew a lead-off walk and moved to third on Ryan Brown's base hit to right field. But Tuten got a pair of groundouts and a strikeout to end the threat. Pfeiffer's Zack Pou went 3-for-3 on the day for the Falcons. Pfeiffer will host CVAC foe Belmont Abbey College for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2:00 pm. |
