|Baseball Loses to Carson-Newman|

|Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer's baseball team lost to Carson-Newman 4-3 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. Eagle outfielder Adam Kefauver robbed Falcon Bryan Braxton of a game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the Eagle victory. The Falcons fall to 6-6 on the season while Carson-Newman improves to 8-5. |
Pfeiffer jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Tyler Smith doubled home Kyle Pugh and Shawn Coke.
Carson-Newman came back with one in the fourth when Nick Achberger drove home Michael Brown.
The Eagles took the lead in the seventh when they scored twice. A Cory McGinnis single tied the game and a Falcon error allowed the third run across the plate.
Carson-Newman scored another run in the top of the eighth to take a 4-2 lead.
Pfeiffer loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Bryan Braxton hit what looked like was going to be a game winning home run but Outfielder adam Kefauver jumped up and reached over the fence to make the play. The next batter gounded out to end the game.
Nick Fogleman started the game for Pfeiffer and pitched 5 and 2/3 strong innings allowing only one run. Tim Peele got the loss for Pfeiffer giving up three runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of relief. Mark Carroll got the win for Carson-Newman with three scoreless innings in relief. Logan Simmons got the save.
Pfeiffer will next play a weekend series at Coker with a double-header at 12:00 pm on Saturday with a single game at 1:00 pm Sunday.
