CHAPEL HILL, NC – Pfeiffer alum and current “Voice of the Falcons” Charles Curcio ‘97 was presented with the Tim Stevens Media Representative Award of the Year at the Dean E. Smith Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Thursday evening. Coaches, administrators and media representatives were all honored at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Annual Meeting.
The Association presented these statewide awards in several different categories all based on who have done the most for high school athletics.
Curcio, who represents the Stanly News and Press as the sports editor, has been instrumental in the coverage of Stanly County high school athletics. On top of covering high school events, Charles is the host and play-by-play personality for Stanly County’s Monday Night Football. Additionally, Charles’ voice can be heard over the PA at all of Pfeiffer’s home men’s and women’s basketball games as well as a handful of baseball, softball and lacrosse contests. He also recently hosted Pfeiffer’s first annual All Sports Banquet on April 21 and assisted with Pfeiffer’s Hall of Fame event in September.
Charles’ contributions to local high school athletics, as well as his alma mater, make him well deserving of the Media Representative of the Year Award.
