|Baseball Wins 1 of 3 at Limestone|

|Gaffney, SC---Pfeiffer won 1 of 3 games in a weekend series at Limestone in CVAC baseball action. On Saturday the two teams split a doubleheader with the Falcons(14-16, 8-7) winning game one 4-2 but lost the second game 14-3. Limestone(17-15, 4-7) took the third game Sunday by a score of 7-6. |
Jonathan McDaniel pitched a complete game to lead Pfeiffer to the win. He gave up two runs(1 earned) over nine innings while striking out seven.
Limestone scored one in the first but Pfeiffer quickly tied it up with one in the second.
Pfeiffer scored twice in the top of the sixth to get a 3-1 lead. The Falcons scored one more in the seventh.
Limestone tried to come back scoring one in the bottom of the ninth but McDaniel shut the door to seal the win.
Limestone scored five runs in the second and five more in the third off Falcon started Zach Strickland to take command.
The Saints built a 14-0 lead before Pfeiffer scored three in the top of the seventh to make the final score 14-3.
Pfeiffer scored a run in the first inning, but Limestone responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a brief lead. The Falcons scored four runs in the second. Limestone chipped away at the visitor’s lead with a run in the third and another in the fifth to tie the game. The Falcons had a 6-5 advantage after the seventh, but the Saints’ Brewer hit a homerun to also score Paul Irby for the victory.
Pfeiffer’s Chris Russell was tagged with the loss. The Falcons’ right fielder Ryan Harju was 2-for-4 with a double, while Kyle Pugh was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Pfeiffer will host USC-Upstate at 2:30 pm on Tuesday.
