| Baseball Wins Series Over Concord |

| Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer won the weekend series against Concord with a 12-9 victory on Sunday afternoon. After a split in two fine pitcher's duels Saturday both teams exploded at the plate Sunday. The Falcons scored 10 runs in the fourth and held off a late Concord comeback attempt to win the series and improve to 3-1 on the season. Jonathan McDaniel started and picked up the win for Pfeiffer. Concord scored two in the second on two groundball outs that each plated a runner. After two outs to start the fourth the Falcons had 11 straight batters reach base on 8 hits, 2 walks and 1 error and scored 10 runs. Jody Groce had a three-run double to start the scoring and after an error four more hits each drove in a run. Concord scored two in the top of the fifth on a Wright double. Pfeiffer came back with one in the bottom of the fifth when Daniel Brown walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third and came home on a Concord error. Concord opened the eighth with 2 singles and 4 walks to score five runs and cut the Pfeiffer lead to 12-9. Zack Pou came on in relief and stopped any further damage in the eighth. Tim Peele came on in the ninth and held Concord scoreless to pick up the save. Pfeiffer will host Catawba on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm. |
