| Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer used a dominating second half to defeat Queens Univrsity 86-63 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action Saturday night. The score was tied at forty at the break but the Falcons used a strong full court press to disrupt the Royals offense and pulled away for the victory. Pfeiffer is now 4-4 on the year and 2-1 in the conference. Queens falls to 0-6 and 0-3. The first half went back and forth as the lead changed hands many times. A Kelly Mathis three-pointer gave the Falcons a 30-27 lead with a little over four minutes to go. Quens fought back and took the lead off many free throws but another Mathis "3" tied the game at 40 at the break. Pfeiffer started the second half with a 5-0 run and pulled away from there. Nine straight points by Lauren Brittingham gave Pfeiffer a 57-44 lead at the 14:38 mark. This was part of a 21-0 Falcon run that stretched the lead to 68-44 with 10:40 to go. Pfeiffer kept the lead over twenty for the rest of the game as their full court press kept Queens from getting any offensive rhythm. The final score was 86-63 for the Falcons. Lauren Brittingham had 16 points to lead Pfeiffer. Kelly Mathis and Ashelle Athill each had 15 points. Devona Knight had double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Erin Goldner had 14 points to lead Queens Pfeiffer will not play again until December 15th when they travel to Carson-Newman for a 6:00 pm game. |
