| Due West, SC- Erskine hosted Pfeiffer University today in women's basketball action. The game was very closely contested with 16 lead changes and 9 ties. The Falcons of Pfeiffer were eventually able to take control and hold on for the 77-70 victory. Erskine played a great first half shooting and impressive 56.5% from the field, 45.5% from behind the arc, and a perfect 4/4 from the free throw line. Fleet sharp shooting allowed them to take a slight advantage (35-33) into the halftime break. During the second half the Fleet matched their first half scoring, but the Falcons were able to put up a stiff 44 points in the second half to pull away from Erskine. Pfeiffer gained a huge advantage from the free throw line hitting 21/28 to Erskine's 12/14. Pfeiffer had all five starters in double figures: Ashelle Athill (16), Kalee Smith (15), Allegra Purnell (13), Devona Knight (12), and Octavia Trammell (10). Pfeiffer will return to action Wednesday when they have travel to Lees-McRae for a 5:30 pm game. |
