|Thursday, 08 March 2007|
Misenheimer - Softball split a non-conference double header today with Indiana University - PA. In game one the Falcons drew first blood as they scored in the bottom of the third. Freshman Chelsey Morton reached first on a single, moved to second on a past ball, stole third, and made it safely home as an errant throw found its way to left field. The Crimson Hawks answered back in the top of the fourth with a single, followed by a homerun. The score remained 2-1 as neither team was able to push another run across. Junior Dacia Ijames gave up two runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out four in five innings of work. Morton finished the game giving up one hit and striking out one.
Game two saw IUP jump out to an early lead in the top of the first with a run scoring on a past ball. The Falcons responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first as Stephanie Bethea, Ijames, and Jamie Cassidy each had base hits. In the bottom of the second, Pfeiffer took advantage of errors as they rallied up 6 runs on just 2 hits. IUP scored twice in the top of the sixth, but the Falcons were able to hold on to an 8-4 victory behind the strong pitching performance of Amanda Beck. Beck surrendered one earned run on six hits, walked two, and struck out eight.
Pfeiffer will next be in action Saturday, March 10th as they host conference rival Anderson. First pitch is slated for 2 o'clock
