Misenheimer,NC---Will Davis hit a solo home run with two out in the bottom of the ninth to give Pfeiffer a 1-0 victory over Lander Thursday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. The Falcons improve to 11-9 on the season thanks to Davis who ended a great pitcher's duel.

Chris Miller started the game for the Falcons and scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings. Lander took two walks to open the second and after a sac bunt had runners on second and third. Miller ended the threat though by striking out the next two batters.

Lander got a runner to third in the fifth and sixth innings but Miller refused o allow a run to cross the plate.

Chris Russell pitched 1 and 2/3 scoreless innings in relief and with two outs in the ninth and a runner on third Andrew Oliver (2-0) came in and struck out the Lander batter to end he inning.

The Falcons got their first two batters on in the bottom of the first but couldn't advance them and then the Pfeiffer bats fell silent until Will Davis ended the game with his fifth home run of the year in the bottom of the ninth.

Pfeiffer next travels to Belmont-Abbey for a weekend series. A double-header will start at 12:00 pm on Saturday and a single game at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
