| ANDERSON, S.C. – Pfeiffer survived a furious Anderson University rally in the first 11 minutes of the second half then pulled away for a 97-83 victory in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon. Pfeiffer, 20-5 and 15-3, led 45-26 at the half and scored the opening basket of the second half to increase its lead to 21 points. From that point, Anderson went on a 33-13 run to cut the Pfeiffer lead to 60-59 with 9:39 remaining. But then the Falcons took off again, hitting the Trojans with a 20-4 run that included four 3-point goals to increase their lead back to 17 – 80-63 – with 6:29 to play. Anderson got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way. The biggest stat of the game was turnovers. Anderson, 11-15 and 9-10, committed 30 turnovers, 22 in the first half, that led to 31 points for Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was led by Chris Woods with 19 points. He was followed by Thomas Carr with 18, Robert McGriff with 15, and Logan Call with 12. The Falcons had 22 assists on 34 baskets and committed just 12 turnovers. Anderson won the boards, 50-42. Pfeiffer’s bench outscored the Anderson bench, 48-23. Pfeiffer will play Belmont-Abbey at home on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm. |
