|Men' Basketball Loses by Three to Belmont|

Belmont, NC---Pfeiffer lost to Belmont-Abbey 110-107 in CVAC men's basketball action Saturday night. DeMario Grier scored 29 points but it wasn't enough as the Falcons(13-5,7-4) fell just short against the Crusaders(5-12,4-7). Robert McGriff added 20 points and 9 rebounds forPfeiffer.
Pfeiffer grabbed a quick 5-0 lead that grew to 11, 17-6, on a Thomas Carr three-pointer with only four minutes gone in the game.
A 9-0 Abbey run cut the Falcon lead to three, 21-18, with 12:48 left.
A DeMario Grier "three" gave Pfeiffer an eight point lead but the Crusaders came right back to tie the game at 28 all.
The two teams traded baskets the rest of the half and at the break Belmont led 54-52.
A Logan Call lay-up with 15:48 to go brought the Falcons within one at 64-63 but Belmont responded and pushed the lead to ten soon after.
Belmont held a 101-91 lead with two minutes to go when the Falcons made one final run at it. Robert McGriff made two free throws with 7 seconds left to cut the Falcon defecit to two. Belmont was immediately fouled and hit the first free throw but missed the second. However, Belmont was able to grab an offensive rebound and hold on for a 110-107 win.
Pfeiffer will return to action Monday when they travel to Mount Olive for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
