|Pfeiffer Defeats Queens 1-0|

|Misenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer men’s soccer team defeated conference rival Queens University by a score of 1-0 Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons used an early goal by Matthew Harris to grab the lead and held off the Royals for the victory. Pfeiffer is now 9-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference. Queens falls to 7-5-3 and 5-2-2. |
The teams came out playing smart and there were very few chances early on. In the fifteenth minute the Falcons got the onlygoal of the game off a corner. The corner kick found Brad Sisk on the back-post and he headed it back across the goal where Mathew Harris headed the ball into the back of the net.
Both teams played strong defensively and with the wet field both teams struggled to maintain control of the ball.
At halftime the score was 1-0 in favor of the Falcons.
The second turned into a very physical game, with both teams committing numerous fouls and several yellow cards being issued.
In the 62nd minute Matthew Harris intercepted a poor back pass and had a one v one with the goalie in the box but the Royals goalie made a great save to keep the Falcon lead at one.
The Royals put on a lot of pressure but the Falcons defense held strong and did not give up any good scoring chances.
The Falcons held on until the end and won 1-0.
Pfeiffer will play again Saturday when they travel to Coker for a 4:00 pm game.
