| Pfeiffer Falls to Abbey 93-90 |

| Misenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer men’s basketball team lost to Belmont-Abbey 93-90 in Conference Carolinas action Tuesday evening. With the loss the Falcons fall to 20-6 overall and 15-4 in the conference. Belmont-Abbey is now 16-11 and 14-6. Pfeiffer used four three-pointers in the first three minutes to build an early 14-3 lead. Abbey came back and cut the Pfeiffer lead to 18-14 with almost thirteen minutes left. A Logan Call driving lay-up gave the Falcons a 31-20 advantage with 10 minutes to go. Derrick Truesdale hit a “3” to buil the Pfeiffer lead to 43-31 with 5:29 to go. Pfeiffer went into halftime up 52-38 hitting 8 three-pointers in the first half. Abbey started the second half on an 11-0 run to get back into the game. A Robert McGriff field goal pushed the Falcons lead back into double figures at 70-60 with 9:21 left. Abbey fought back and Jonathan Jckson had a four-point play to tie the game at 83 with 3:40 to go. Abbey built an 87-83 lead. Pfeiffer cut the lead to two on several occasions. With 20 seconds to go Pfeiffer had two three-point shots miss. Abbey made one of two free throws but a last seond three-pointer by the Falcons bounced off the rim and gave the Crusaders a93-90 victory. Derrick Truesdale led the Falcons with 17 points. Richard Barbee led the Crusaders with 33 points. Pfeiffer travels to Limestone on Friday for a 7:30 pm game. They will also host a conference tournament quarter-final game Monday at 7:00 pm against as yet a undetermined opponent. |
