Pfeiffer Sweeps Barton 3-0

ljubicic.jpgMisenheimer, NC---The Pfeiffer volleyball team swept visiting Barton 3-0 (30-23,30-22,30-21) Saturday afternon. With the victory the Falcons improve to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the conference. Barton is now 1-17 overall and 0-9 in the conference.

Pfeiffer jumped out quickly in the first game and took an 8-3 lead. Barton fought back but two Petra Ljubicic kills gave the Falcons a 12-8 advantage. The Falcons built their lead up to 28-16 before a Bulldog run made it closer but the Falcons won game one 30-23.

Game two was very tight at the start. The game went back and forth until the Falcons managed to get a 13-12 lead. It stayed close until Pfeiffer had a 20-18 advantage. A Lauren Spiotta kill capped a 9-1 Falcon run that gave Pfeiffer a 29-19 lead. The Falcons won game two 30-22.

Pfeiffer completed the sweep with a 30-21 win in the third game. The Falcons scored the first four points of the game. Barton hung around and trailed 13-10 when Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run to take control. Pfeiffer did not let up and won 30-21.

Pfeiffer will host Mt. Olive Sunday at 1:00 pm.
