| Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer' s baseball team opened their 2007 season with a 9-3 win over Lenoir-Rhyne Friday afternoon. Chris Russell picked up the win in relief after throwing three scoreless innings. Falcon Hayes Hinson reached base four times, on a hit and three walks, and scored twice. All nine Falcon starters reached base during the game, with six different players scoring. Hayes Hinson, Tyler Smith and Ryan Brown each scored twice for the Falcons. Ben Beard started the game for the Falcons and gave up three runs in four innings. Chris Russell came in and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing only one runner to reach base on a walk. Freshman Tim Peele gave up only one hit over the final two scoreless innings. Coach Hayes said, "We had some great pitching today. There were several good defensive plays made also. It was a good game all around." Pfeiffer will return to action this weekend when they host Concord College(WV). A double-header starts Saturday at 12:00 pm. A single game will be played Sunday starting at 1:00 pm. |
