Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer split with visiting ConcoredCollege(WV) Saturday afternoon in two great pitching duels. Concored took the first game 3-2 but the Falcons came back behind a complete game shutout by Zach Strickland to win game two 1-0. The final game of the series will be Sunday at 1:00 pm. In game one Pfeiffer grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on two run double by Ryan Brown. Concord tied the game with two runs in the fifth. An unearned run in the sixth gave Concord a 3-2 lead. Pfeiffer got runners on in both the sixth and the seventh but could not bring them around and lost 3-2. Nick Fogleman picked up the loss for Pfeiffer but only gave up one earned run in 5 and 1/3 innings. Tim Peele pitched 1 and 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. Bryan Braxton hit a solo home run in the second inning of game two to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. It was all they would need as Zach Strickland pitched a complete game four-hit shut-out. He struck out four and only walked one. The rubber game in the series will take place Sunday at 1:00 pm. |
