Gianferante is a member of the Pfeiffer Sports Hall of Fame and earned the 2014 National High School Coach of the Year Award while guiding the Notre Dame Academy Golf program.
“We are very lucky to have Dave join our coaching staff and our athletic department,” said Reasso. “His recent National Coach of the Year award, as well as his 12 State Championships, are a testament to his coaching ability. He was a great golfer and soccer player here at Pfeiffer and it's great to bring him home to help the university he loves.”
Gianferante was elected to the Pfeiffer Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 for his excellence both during and following his career in Misenheimer. On the soccer field, Gianferante scored 42 career goals from 1969-1972 and was a NAIA All-District Player.
Gianferante has a storied career as a golf coach, including being selected four times (2002, 2005, 2009 and 2014) as the Boston Globe Coach of the Year as well as the 2012 MIAA Girls Golf Coach of the Year. On two separate occasions, Gianferante was named the National Federation of States High School Association Massachusetts Coach of the Year and received the 2012 National Federation of States High School Association’s National District Coach of the Year. In his 15 years at Notre Dame Academy, Gianferante amassed a 244-11 career record and had 10 consecutive undefeated seasons. His team went from the 2002 season to the 2013 season without losing a single match and his 2011 squad set the state scoring record.
“I would like to thank President Miller and Athletic Director Bob Reasso for affording me the opportunity to come back home to Pfeiffer,” said Gianferante. “I look forward to working with Coach Gealy and the Golf Team as well as the entire athletic department.”
Pfeiffer Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach Elliot Gealy is excited about Gianferante’s return to his alma mater as well.
"I am really looking forward to Dave joining the golf staff,” said Gealy. “He has been associated with the game for a long time and will be an invaluable asset with player development, tournament preparation and the overall improvement of our program."
