Jason Lange was named the Pfeiffer University Head Men’s Lacrosse coach on June 21, 2013 after previously serving as the assistant coach at Mars Hill College for four seasons.

In his first season at Pfeiffer, Lange guided the Falcons to a 9-5 record despite playing one of the most difficult schedules in the nation. Lange coached Hayden Kirk and Steven Tilmon to Third Team USILA All-American honors and placed eight players on the First and Second Team All-Conference.

As a member of the Mars Hill coaching staff, Lange served as the defensive coordinator where he guided the defense to the unparalleled success. His 2010 unit allowed only 6.43 goals per game, which ranked in the top-10 nationally and was the best mark in program history. Also in 2010, the Lions man down unit ranked number one in the country, killing off 89.3% of opponent’s man up opportunities. Last season, Lange helped Mars Hill to an 11-3 record, also a school record, and has helped take the team to three consecutive Deep South Conference regular season championships.

In total, Lange has coached five All-Americans, 22 All-Conference standouts, three Conference Players of the Year, and one Conference Freshman of the Year. He also coached three players that were drafted into the National Lacrosse League, and one player that signed with a Major League Lacrosse team.

Prior to joining the Lions’ coaching staff, Lange was a standout on the field for Mars Hill. He served as a defenseman from 2004-09 where he helped lead the team to a Deep South Conference tournament championship in 2008 and a regular season title in 2009. Following the 2009 season, Lange represented the USA at the Berlin Open in Germany and helped lead the team to the championship game.

Lange holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in coaching.

Nicholas Acquaviva

  Assistant Coach

Head men’s lacrosse coach Jason Lange has announced the addition of Nicholas Acquaviva to the Men's Lacrosse coaching staff.

Acquaviva was a four-year starter at New England College and earned back-to-back All-Conference honors. In his junior season, he was named an honorable mention to the Commonwealth Coast All-Conference team and garnered Second Team All-North Atlantic Conference honors as a senior.

“Nick will be a great addition to our program,” Lange said. “As a player, he has performed well on the big stage and I believe our defense and goalies will benefit tremendously from his passion and coaching ability.”

Acquaviva paced the Pilgrims to 37 wins in his career and capped it by leading the program to a conference title as a senior. Acquaviva made 11 saves in the NAC championship game, an 18-7 win over Castleton State, which sent his team to the NCAA Tournament and earned him Tournament MVP honors.

Acquaviva finished his career with 73 starts, 775 saves - 20th in NCAA Division III history - and a .586 save percentage.

After his junior year, Acquaviva was also selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis.

“I am excited to continue my coaching career at Pfeiffer, a school that has shown great success over the last six years,” Acquaviva said. “I hope my hard work will help the Falcons continue that success.”

Anthony LaMarca

  Assistant Coach

Head men’s lacrosse coach Jason Lange has announced the addition of Anthony LaMarca to his coaching staff.

LaMarca is a 2012 graduate of Pfeiffer University and earned degrees in Criminal Justice and Forensic Accounting. LaMarca is originally from Sayville, NY where he was a four year varsity player, leading his high school team to the Suffolk County Championship game as a sophomore.

During his time in Misenheimer, LaMarca was a four time All-Conference selection at close defense. As a senior, he was selected to the 2012 USILA All-America Second Team, the first All-America selection the Falcons had garnered in 10 years. LaMarca also represented Pfeiffer in the prestigious Division I/II North/South All-Star Game.

LaMarca will serve as a defensive assistant for the Falcons.

“Coach LaMarca has a tremendous knowledge of the game of lacrosse, especially on defense,” commented Lange. “Our defensemen, as well as everyone in our program, will benefit from his knowledge, teaching ability and discipline.”
