Currier on Gibson - “Tayron is a special player that has a chance of being one of the best players in our league. His commitment to conditioning has added size, strength, and speed, and getting him back to his natural guard position will benefit our team. Tayron is as efficient of a player that there is, and is an X factor player that brings value that cannot be measured by any stat sheet.”
Tayron saw action in 25 games and recorded 13 starts in his freshman campaign. Gibson, who led the team in defensive charges taken, played every position for the Falcons in 2011-12. Tayron was instrumental in defeating nationally-ranked King College as he posted career highs of 18 points and 8 rebounds in the comeback victory. Gibson also posted strong performances against the Apprentice School with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 6 charges taken, and in the overtime win over Mount Olive College with nine points and seven rebounds.
Tayron, originally from Alexandria, VA, played varsity for all 4 years under head coaches, Ronald Palmer and Keith Honore. In high school, Tayron averaged 12ppg, 8apg, and 10rpg.
