No. 25 Piedmont Takes Doubleheader from Pfeiffer Baseball
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 2, 2019) – Twenty-fifth ranked Piedmont College scored two runs in the second inning and three in the seventh to take a 5-2 win in game one over the Pfeiffer University baseball team on Saturday afternoon at Ferebee Field. In game two, the Lions jumped out to an 8-0 lead and would take the eventual 8-4 win.

How it Happened – Game 1
Piedmont College got a leadoff walk followed by a double that put runners on second and third in the second inning. A groundout made it 1-0 and then would get their second run on a passed ball.
Piedmont stymied the Falcon bats until the sixth inning, when Mason Striplin tripled to right field. Kirby Lambert would then launch a home run to left field to tie the game at 2-2.
The 25th ranked Lions got three runs in the top of the seventh and held Pfeiffer scoreless over their last three at-bats to take the 5-2 win.
How it Happened – Game 2
The visiting Lions built an 8-0 lead over the first six innings but Pfeiffer struck for three runs in the seventh inning thanks to a leadoff walk by Hayden McGraw followed by a single from Zach Ferrell. Bryan Kowalski would then double down the left field line, driving in two. Striplin would then single, driving in Kowalski, cutting the lead to 8-3.
Pfeiffer would get another run in the ninth after Kowalski doubled again to lead off the inning. He would score after Blake Winebarger singled through the right side, but it would be all the Falcons could muster, as they fell in game two 8-4.
Pfeiffer and Piedmont will close out their USA South series on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for Noon.
