Misenheimer, N.C. (March 6, 2019) Visiting Ohio Northern University scored eight third quarter goals and on their way to a 22-8 men's lacrosse win over Pfeiffer University on Wednesday afternoon at Lefko Field.

Junior Jared Nelson dished five assists and scored three goals, amassing seven points on the afternoon.  Teammate John Allen netted three goals and upped his season total to 12 in the loss.  Freshman Chris Alcorn had a productive outing, scoring a goal and providing two assists for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED


First Quarter

Pfeiffer jumped on top early at the 11:07 mark when Nelson fired a shot to put the Falcons up 1-0.  ONU then answered with three goals in the quarter, two from Cameron Marous to take the 3-1 lead after the first.

Second Quarter
Alcorn tallied a man-up goal for the Falcons bringing Pfeiffer back to within 3-2, but ONU responded with a man-up goal of their own to make it 4-2.  The Polar Bears then tacked on three more in the quarter before Luke Cox got a man-up goal to trim the lead to 7-3.  ONU then scored with 2:40 left in the half to provide the 8-3 halftime margin.

Third Quarter
Ohio Northern opened the quarter with three unanswered goals to go up 11-3, but Pfeiffer put together goals from Allen and Nelson to make it 11-5.  ONU then scored four straight before Allen received a pass from Nelson, scoring at the 1:07 mark, making it 15-6.  Ohio Northern added another goal just 22 seconds before the end of the quarter to go up 16-6.


Fourth Quarter

Ohio Northern kept pouring it on, scoring six straight goals to open the fourth quarter, bolting to a 22-6 lead.  Pfeiffer did close the scoring with goals from Allen and Luke Cox to provide the 22-8 final.
