Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Gets Big 21-6 USA South Win at Averett
Danville, Va. (March 17, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team got back on the winning track as they earned a big 21-6 USA South road win at Averett on Sunday afternoon.

Senior John Allen led all Falcon scorers with seven goals while Jared Nelson had a goal and 10 assists in helping Pfeiffer to the USA South win. Jacob Leone added four goals and three assists while Luke Cox and Treven King each had three goals for Pfeiffer. Chris Alcorn, Bailey Coltman and Ben Zahorec also had goals on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pfeiffer opened the scoring less than three minutes in as Jacob Leone notched his fifth tally of the year on a Jared Nelson assist. Leone would get another goal at the 10:34 mark on another feed from Nelson to go up 2-0.
Averett added a man-up goal then Allen and Nelson scored back-to-back unassisted goals to go up 4-1.
Averett then responded with two goals to get to within 4-3, but Pfeiffer got goals from Treven King and two from John Allen to close the quarter, with Pfeiffer leading 7-3.
After Averett scored to make it 7-4, it was all Falcons, as Pfeiffer reeled off six unanswered goals to go into halftime leading 13-4. During that span, Allen scored three times while Nelson assisted on four of the goals.
The Falcons' offensive onslaught continued, as they scored six goals in the quarter while holding Averett scoreless. Allen, King Leone and Zahorec each scored a goal each while Cox netted two during the quarter. Pfeiffer led 19-4 after the quarter ended.
Bailey Coltman would get into the scoring column for Pfeiffer when he scored on an assist from Nelson at the 14:01 mark.
Averett would break their drought with goals at 11:23 and 5:03 to make it 20-6, but Pfeiffer's Chris Alcorn ended the scoring with an unassisted goal at 3:57 to provide the 21-6 final.
Pfeiffer will return to the friendly confines of Lefko Field to host Guilford in a nonconference game on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m.
