Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 3, 2018) –
The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team halted a four-match skid with a 3-1 win over Averett University at Lefko Field on Wednesday evening.

The Falcons jumped up 1-0 when Haile Eve (Sandy's, Bermuda) weaved his way through three Cougar defenders in the 10th minute and deposited the shot to the far post, out of the reach of Averett goalkeeper Austin Bramhall, giving Eve the game-winner and his first goal of the season.

Pfeiffer grabbed the 2-0 lead in the 48th minute when Enrique Vargas (Asheboro, N.C.) received a pass from Chris Brown (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) and slotted it just out of reach for his third goal of the season.

In the 76th minute, Carlos Cuadros (Asheboro, N.C.) scored his third of the year when he went near post in traffic to stake Pfeiffer to the 3-0 lead.

Averett was able to avoid the shutout when Johnny Kummander got an assist from Erik Blick in the 81st minute to provide the 3-1 final.

With the win, Pfeiffer improves to 4-5 on the season and 1-4 in USA South play while Averett drops to 2-8-1 and 0-4-1 in league play.

The Falcons will return to play on Saturday, Oct. 6 with a 2:00 p.m. home kickoff against Maryville.
