Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Falls to Maryville, 2-0

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct.6, 2018) –
Visiting Maryville College scored two second half goals and limited the Pfeiffer University men's soccer team to six shots en route to a 2-0 USA South win at a hot and humid Lefko Field on Saturday afternoon.

Maryville jumped ahead 1-0 in the 54th minute when Austin Vinyard received a pass from Chris Fernandez and slipped it past Pfeiffer goalkeeper David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.).  The Scots then went up 2-0 in the 71st minute, this time on an unassisted score from Milan Cord.

The Falcons got two shots each from Enrique Vargas (Asheboro, N.C.) and Carlos Cuadros (Asheboro, N.C.).

With the loss, Pfeiffer drops to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in USA South play while Maryville improves to 6-3 and 5-2 in conference play.

The Falcons will have a short turnaround, as they host Brevard on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 7 at 3:00 p.m. for another USA South conference match.
