Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Earns Hard-Fought Win Over Johnson & Wales

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 10, 2018) –
The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team worked their way through difficult weather and field conditions in taking a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Johnson & Wales on Wednesday afternoon at Lefko Field.

The Falcons and Wildcats both dealt with torrential rains through most of the match, with neither team able to break into the scoring column in the first half.

Pfeiffer's Chris Brown (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) scored the eventual game-winner in the 77th minute after taking a pass from Arian Cindahl (Asher, Norway).  Cindahl started the play at midfield and placed a pass between two JWU defenders and Brown took control and fired a shot from approximately 10-yards out past Wildcat goalkeeper Julio Pena.

Over the next 13 minutes, the match remained intense as the rain kept falling, with several hard fouls called and three yellow cards being issued.

The teams were evenly matched, with each recording 12 shots, with JWU having five on goal to the Falcons' four.

Pfeiffer goalkeeper David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.) made five saves on the match, improving his season record to 3-5 on the season.

With the win, Pfeiffer evened their overall record to 6-6 overall while JWU suffered their first defeat, falling to 7-1.
