Singles Leads to Pfeiffer Loss at King

BRISTOL, T.N. – The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team (7-11, 2-7 CC) was downed 6-3 at King (7-9, 5-5) at the Kings Tennis Courts in Bristol, Tennessee on Wednesday afternoon.

Pfeiffer was on top 2-0 early after recording wins from Thomas Hubble / Bjorn Barwinski (8-5) and Axel Woerner / Raul Ruiz (8-5) at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions, respectively, before falling in the third doubles match 8-5.

The Falcons took the No. 1 singles match behind Woerner's 7-6, 6-0 performance to increase their lead to 3-1. However, King recorded wins at Nos. 2-6, as Lenny Keswani snuck by Barnwinski (7-6, 6-4) and Arturo Alfaro clutched a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback over David Weir.

PFU will close out the regular season at Lees-McRae on Monday, April 17 at 2 p.m.
