Falcons Open The Season With A Victory Over Montreat

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer men's tennis team (1-0) opened their season at home against the Montreat Cavaliers (0-1) and came away with a 5-4 victory on Wednesday afternoon. Pfeiffer took two-of-three in doubles competition which helped to earn the pivotal victory.

In the number one position of doubles, Bjorn Barwinski and Thomas Hubble handled the pair of Ben Cree and Lorward Choi by the count of 8-1. Raul Ruiz and Trey Speight also knocked off David Garcia and Ahn Hoang, 8-6.

Also, the Falcons picked three wins in singles by Barwinski, Ruiz and Trey Speight. In the first position, the senior Barwinski, had no problem with the Cavaliers David Garcia, 6-0, 6-0. Out of the third position, Ruiz also had an easy time with Cree, 6-3, 6-1. The fourth position saw Speight pick up the 6-4, 6-2 victory over Choi.

Pfeiffer will return action on September 23rd as they travel to Florence, South Carolina for the Florence Tournament.
