BANNER ELK, N.C. - Lees-McRae College swept a pair of Conference Carolinas softball contests from Pfeiffer University by the final scores of 4-2 and 6-5 on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Bobcats improve to 16-19 overall, 4-2 in league play while the Lady Falcons plummet to 13-21, 7-5 after their eighth-straight loss.
In the opener, Pfeiffer got on the board first as Hannah Jackson scored on Kirsten Patterson reaching by a fielding error at short. Lees-McRae followed with a pair of unanswered runs in the third and fifth to take a 4-1 lead. The Lady Bobcats used back-to-back homers in their fifth. The Lady Falcons final run came on an Allison Braswell RBI-double to left-center in the seventh. Freshmen Celia Dew and Jackson led Pfeiffer with a pair of hits in game one.
The nightcap saw Lees-McRae win it in the bottom of the seventh right after Pfeiffer tied it with three in the top half. Pfeiffer tied the contest at two in the fifth on a two-run single by Jackson before doubling in the seventh, picking up two more RBI. Jackson scored on her double to right plating on a misplayed ball in the outfield. A walk, wild pitch and fielding error led to the Lady Bobcats winning run in the seventh.
Pfeiffer will get back into Conference play this Friday and Saturday hosting Mount Olive and Coker at Jack Ingram Field. Both contests are set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
