Falcons Advance to Second Straight NCAA Tournament; Take on Carson-Newman in Opener

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the second straight season, the Pfeiffer softball team has qualified for the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament starting on Thursday, May 11. This year, the Falcons earned an at-large bid and are the No. 7 seed in the Southeast Region.

Armstrong St. was selected as the host for the Southeast 2 Regional this weekend, the second consecutive year that Pfeiffer will travel to Savannah, GA. In its opener, the Falcons (44-6) will take on No. 2 seed Carson-Newman (43-11) at 2:30 p.m.  

Pfeiffer is 2-4 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and beat Lenoir-Rhyne twice a season ago. Pfeiffer met Carson-Newman in the 2008 NCAA Regional, the first time Pfeiffer advanced to the NCAA Tournament, with the Eagles coming away victorious.

Game 1 - Thursday at noon - Armstrong St. vs. Young Harris
Game 2 - Thursday at 2:30 p.m. - Carson-Newman vs. Pfeiffer

Game 3 - Friday at 11 a.m. - Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2
Game 4 - Friday at 1:30 p.m. - Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2
Game 5 - Friday at 4 p.m. - Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4

Game 6 - Saturday at noon - Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5
Game 7 (if necessary) - Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
