WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Pfeiffer softball team (16-2) swept a doubleheader at Salem (10-8) winning by scores of 6-3 and 10-3 on Thursday evening. Vada Blue Sherrill hit two more home runs on the day, giving her five over her last three games.

In the opener, Pfeiffer put up three runs in the top of the first to take the early advantage. A solo bomb by Chandler Walker and a 2-run shot by Stephanie Fortner gave the Falcons a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Kiana Millsaps doubled home Sherrill for the Falcons fourth run of the day.

Pfeiffer would add two more in the fourth on an RBI single from Bailey Sherrill and a sacrifice fly by Walker.

Millsaps gave up three runs in the seventh, two of them being unearned. The junior earned her 11th win of the season by tossing a complete game and allowing just four hits and a pair of walks. With the bat, Millsaps finished 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Sherrill started off game two with her second leadoff home run in three games. In the top of the second, Walker would crush her second homer of the day, a three-run shot to put Pfeiffer up 4-0.

Pennell, Fortner and Sherrill would all crush solo homers in the next two innings to push the Pfeiffer advantage to 7-0.

The Sprits pushed across a pair in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-2 but Sherrill doubled to score Kasey Rowden and Pennell's second HR of the game extended the lead to 10-2.

Salem scored once more in the bottom of the sixth but couldn't get any closer.

Kennedy Lester earned her fifth win of the year, tossing five innings and allowing three runs. Kari Westerbeek tossed two scoreless innings and allowed just one baserunner.
