MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Playing for the first time since March 31, the Pfeiffer softball team (31-5) showed some rust in today's split with Guilford (17-17) at Jack Ingram Field. On the warmest day of the season, the Falcons dropped game one 6-3 but rebounded to take game two, 8-2.
Pfeiffer put two on the board in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Amanda Sports to give the Falcons an early advantage. Unfortunately, the Quakers would answer with a 3-run HR from Savannah Hale to dead center in the top of the 2nd inning.
Sports homered to left in the bottom of the fourth to draw the Falcons even but Guilford would score three in top of the fifth to claim the victory.
The Falcons bounced back thanks to a strong effort in the circle from Kennedy Lester who went six innings and allowed two unearned runs to improve to 11-1 on the year.
Kiana Millsaps started the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first and Sports followed with a double to put Pfeiffer up two. Pfeiffer would go on to score the game's first seven runs, capped by a 2-RBI double from shortstop Vada Blue Sherrill that gave the Falcons a commanding advantage.
Sports finished the game with two hits in three at bats and scored twice while driving in a pair. Vada Blue reached base safely all four times and added two runs, two RBI and a stolen base.
Pfeiffer wraps up the home portion of the regular season schedule on Friday night when they host Meredith at 4 p.m. The Falcons own a 14-2 record at Jack Ingram Field so far this season.
