Millsaps and Sherrill Earn ECAC Postseason Honors

Vada Blue Sherrill and Kiana Millsaps Earn Postseason ECAC Honors

 –The postseason honors keep rolling in for the Pfeiffer University softball program as a pair of players have earned postseason awards from the ECAC.

Senior shortstop Vada Blue Sherrill earned her second-straight ECAC Player of the Year award while fellow senior pitcher Kiana Milsaps was named First Team All-ECAC.

This past season Sherrill batted .482, finishing with 58 RBI and led the USA South in home runs with 15.  She also was the league leader in stolen bases (52), runs scored (75) and doubles (18). She also delivered a .936 fielding percentage while manning shortstop for the Falcons.

Sherrill completed her Falcon career as the leader in every major offensive category and became the only person in NCAA history, regardless of division, to reach 200 hits (251), runs scored (255), RBI (200), and stolen bases (201).

Senior pitcher Kiana Milsaps, from Taylorsville, N.C., earned first team All-ECAC honors after a tremendous senior campaign in the circle. She compiled a 28-4 overall record this past season while pitching 166 innings, finishing with a 1.90 ERA while striking out 87 batters.  She limited the opposition to just 45 earned runs while walking just 24 batters.

She was also efficient at the plate, hitting .383 with 43 RBI. She had 46 hits, seven doubles and launched 10 home runs while finishing with a .532 slugging percentage.

She was also named the ECAC MVP after earning all three Pfeiffer wins in the tournament while surrendering zero fly-ball outs over three games in the Falcons run at winning their second-straight ECAC title.
