MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team hit the court on Saturday afternoon and took home their sixth victory of the year, including their third straight. The Falcons (6-1) defeated the Ferrum Panthers (4-7) by a final score of 59-50. Despite scoring a season low five points in the first quarter, the Pfeiffer defense forced 26 turnovers and overcame their slow start to grab the win. Sydni Bickford led the Falcons with 15 points, including shooting 3-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Senior guard Dajea Scott added 13 points and 7 assists, including 6 points in the fourth quarter, as she continues her solid final season in a Falcon uniform. Freshman A'Mya McClain contributed 11 points and 8 steals on the afternoon. Pfeiffer shot 33 percent from the field for the game.
Ferrum was led by an impressive effort from Zarika Mattox, who scored 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor. Despite Mattox's performance, Ferrum could not generate enough offense to overcome the Falcons, as the rest of the team combined for just 20 points.
The Panthers shot 20 percent from behind the arc, and just 32 percent from the field on the game. Ferrum's struggles shooting, combined with 26 turnovers and being outscored 19-6 in the fourth quarter were the big factors in their seventh loss of the season.
Pfeiffer looks for its 7th win of the season tomorrow at 2:00 as they play host to the Averett Cougars.
