Pfeiffer Women's Basketball Falls at Berea, 87-63

Berea used a big first quarter on the way to an 87-63 win over the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in the Seabury Center in Berea, Ky.

In the first quarter, homestanding Berea limited the Falcons to just seven points and just a 12.6% (2-of-16) field goal percentage.  Berea got on the board early, nailing a three-pointer just 54 seconds in.  After a Pfeiffer basket, Berea would go on a 20-2 run over the span of nearly seven minutes to take the 25-4 lead.  After a Pfeiffer basket from Aaliyah May (Birmingham, Ala.), Berea got a three pointer from Briana Lanham to make it 28-6.  Pfeiffer would add a free throw at the end of the quarter that made it 28-7.

In the second quarter, Pfeiffer trimmed the lead to just 16 points (36-20) at the 3:17 mark following a
Ja'Mia Johnson (Durham, N.C.) layup.  Berea then closed out the quarter with a free throw and two baskets, taking the 40-20 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw Berea go up by as many as 39 points (67-28) and the Falcons would be able to get no closer than 24 the rest of the way, falling 87-63.

Individually, Sydni Bickford (Concord, N.C.) led the way with 15 points while A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.) had 12.

The Falcons will next be in action on Nov. 26, traveling to Gardner-Webb for a 7:00 p.m. exhibition matchup with the Runnin' Bulldogs.
