Gardner-Webb Drops Pfeiffer Women's Basketball in Exhibition,82-46

– Home standing Gardner-Webb University jumped out to an early 19-5 lead after the first quarter, taking an 82-46 exhibition win over the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team on Monday night at Paul Porter Arena in Boiling Springs, N.C.

The first quarter saw the Falcons only manage a 2-of-12 performance from the field, falling behind 19-5.

Gardner-Webb went on to outscore the Falcons 20-9 in the second quarter, taking a 39-14 lead into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Runnin' Bulldogs limited the Falcons to 12 points, then outscoring the Black and Yellow 25-20 in the fourth quarter to take the 82-46 win.

The Falcons were limited to a 40.9% (20-of-49) shooting percentage on the game, only managing a 28.6% (4-of-14) effort from three-point range.

The Falcons' senior guard Sydni Bickford (Concord, N.C.) led the way, scoring 11 points while hitting three from distance on the night. Junior Ja'Mia Johnson (Durham, N.C.) also had a productive night, scoring night points and hauling in a team-best eight rebounds.

Gardner-Webb got 23 points from Savannah Plentovich while teammate Jhessyka Williams had 14 points in the win.

The Falcons will next be in action on Sunday, Dec. 9, hosting USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m in Merner Gym.
