Pfeiffer Women's Basketball Suffers 83-52 Loss at Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C. (Jan. 16, 2019) –
The Greensboro College women's basketball team used a big second quarter and never looked back, downing Pfeiffer University 83-52 on Wednesday night at Hanes Gym.

After leading 18-17 after the first quarter, Pfeiffer was outscored in the second quarter 26-8.  In the quarter, the Falcons struggled from the field, going just 2-of-12 (16.7%) from the field while Greensboro shot a sizzling 75% (12-of-16) from the floor.

In the third quarter, Greensboro would build their lead to as many as 23 points (55-32) at the 4:06 mark following a three-pointer from Nichelle Jeffries. Pfeiffer would close the gap to 19 points (60-41) by the end of the quarter.

In the fourth, Greensboro kept pouring it on, boosting the lead 79-50 with 4:00 to play.  Pfeiffer would get no closer than 27 points the rest of the way, falling 83-52.

Pfeiffer senior Sydni Bickford (Concord, N.C.) was the lone Falcon in double figures as she scored a game-high 21 points while hitting five three-pointers on the night.

For Greensboro, four players scored in double-figures with A'Liyah Woods leading the way with 19 points.  Teammate Katie Lewis had 18 points as the Pride improved to 13-3 overall and 7-2 in league play.

The loss drops Pfeiffer to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in USA South play.
