Meagan Bourque Scores 100th Career Goal in 14-9 Win Over Greensboro

Misenheimer,  N.C. (March 16, 2019) Pfeiffer University women's lacrosse player Meagan Bourque scored her 100th career goal in a 14-9 USA South win over Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon at Lefko Field.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Meagan Bourque scored her 100th career goal and third of the game with 42 seconds remaining in the first half.  She finished the afternoon as the leading scorer for the Falcons, tallying five goals and adding an assist in the win.

Teammate Startraya Galloway also notched five goals in the win.  Hailey Metzger posted three goals while Gabby Bosak had a goal and an assist in the win.  Sophia Griffin had an assist in helping the Falcons remain unbeaten.

HOW IT HAPPENED


First Half

The Falcons got on the board quickly thanks to a free position goal from Startraya Galloway at the 29:53 mark. Gabby Bosak would make it 2-0 Pfeiffer when she scored from an assist from Sophia Griffin with 20:36 left in the half.  Greensboro would score twice to tie the game at 2-2, but a three-goal Falcon burst from Bourque, Metzger and Galloway would push the lead to 5-2.

Greensboro would score five unanswered goals to take the 7-5 lead, but the Falcons responded with three goals to close the half, including Bourque's 100th to stake the Falcons to the 8-7 halftime lead.
 

Second Half
Greensboro would open the second half with a goal to tie it at 8-8 at the 29:42 mark, but Pfeiffer responded with four straight goals over the next nine minutes to jump ahead 12-8.

Greensboro would only be able to score once more in the game and Galloway added two late goals to supply the 14-9 final.

The Falcons will travel to William Peace on Tuesday, March 19 for a 7:00 p.m. game.  That game will be played at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, N.C.
