Pfeiffer women's soccer head coach Robyn Horner announced the 2018 schedule this afternoon. The 17-game slate features seven home games and 10 on the road.
The action kicks off with a trip to Philadelphia with matches at Swarthmore (Aug. 31) and Widener (Sept. 1). On the weekend of Sept. 7-9, the Falcons will host a tournament with Wesleyan, Rowan and Emory that will see the Falcons take on Wesleyan on Sept. 9. After a pair of road games, the Falcons will welcome Southern Virginia to Misenheimer on Sept. 19.
Pfeiffer's homecoming game will take place on Sept. 29 against Methodist at 1 p.m. A season ago, Pfeiffer defeated the Monarchs 3-1 to record the program's 240th win. In mid-October, the Falcons will host three straight matches with Averett, Meredith and Regent playing at NE Lefko Field. In total, five of Pfeiffer's last six games will come in The Village. The regular season wraps up on Oct. 24 with a home match against Brevard.
The Falcons went 8-8 in 2017, the fifth time in the past six years that the Falcons finished .500 or above. Team MVP Kaley Hyatt returns for her junior season in goal. After two years with the Falcons, Hyatt sits in sixth place in program history with 160 career saves and fourth place with a 1.33 goals against average.
Also returning for the Falcons is the goal-scoring duo of Cayci Eaton and Maddie Capel. The pair combined for 20 of Pfeiffer's 45 goals in their freshman season and look to build upon their rookie campaigns. Gabby Bosak and Meredith Manson were also standouts in their first year with the Falcons and rising junior Hailey Metzger will be relied upon to continue her stellar play.
