Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Road Decision at No. 21 Swarthmore

Swarthmore, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 1-0 loss at No. 21 Swarthmore College on Friday afternoon.

The only goal of the match came in the 23rd minute when Swarthmore senior forward Marin McCoy connected with junior winger Sydney Covits on a give-and-go. McCoy deked her way through the midfield and fed a pass ahead to Covitz on the right side of the box. Covitz corralled the pass and found McCoy with some space around her right at the PK hash. McCoy slid a right-footed shot into the back left corner of the goal for Swarthmore's first tally of the new season.

The Falcons managed only three shots in the outing, with only one coming on goal.  Sophomore Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) had two shots on the match while 
Madison Capel (Harrisburg, N.C.) had the other Pfeiffer shot.

Goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (0-1) finished the match with seven saves.

The Falcons will continue their road trip on Sunday, playing at Widener in a 1:00 p.m. match.
