Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Falls to McDaniel 3-0 in ECAC Quarterfinals

Westminster, Md. (Nov. 11, 2018) –
McDaniel College got a hat trick from Maddie Schwartz and kept Pfeiffer University scoreless in a 3-0 decision in the ECAC Division III Women's Soccer Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon in Westminster, Pa.

The Green Terror struck just 1:31 into the match when Schwartz took a throw-in and bent a shot past Pfeiffer junior goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.) from 25 yards out.

Shwartz scored her second goal in the 38th minute on an assist from Cameron Hukill.  Shwartz took the pass from the right side then placed a shot in the top right corner for the 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Schwartz' third goal came in the 80th minute, this time on a cross from Kirsten Gibson.

The Falcons had several quality opportunities throughout the match, but was kept at bay by McDaniel goalkeeper Katherine Carstensen, who registered four saves on the afternoon.

Hyatt managed eight saves while Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) and Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) had three shots each in the loss.

The Falcons conclude the season at 13-3 overall while McDaniel improves to 12-5-1 and will host the ECAC semifinals and championship next weekend, Nov. 17 and 18.
