Pfeiffer Drops a Pair At N.C. Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.- On Saturday, the Pfeiffer Falcons (1-14) struggled in both of their matches to Averett (20-2) and N.C. Wesleyan (5-12).  The Falcons fell in straight sets in each match and fell in single digits in three sets.

In match one of the day versus Averett, Pfeiffer fell 25-7, 25-8 in set one and two respectively, but the Falcons fought tough in set three as after the Cougars were able to take the lead by the score of 18-14, but the Falcons  were able to come back to tie it up  as Bri Weber connected with two kills and an ace by Lea Hilton

Averett rallied with four consecutive points but again Bri Weber added two more kills and two aces by Katie Anne Wilson brought Pfeiffer back within one point, 23-22. The Cougars closed out the match with two consecutive points and go on to win 25-22.

Though the Falcons were out hit on the day, Pfeiffer was able to hit .242 in the third set and Bri Weber in match one had seven kills as she hit .294.

In the match against the Battling Bishops, the Falcons fell in set one 25-13 and then came out in set two to get behind by five points. The Falcons then won eight straight points when kills were tallied by Sam Smith (2) and Madison Kuehl (1).

N.C.Wesleyan went on to win the next seven but again the Falcons continued to hang around the set as the eventually had set point on the Battling Bishops. The Falcons were unable to put away N.C. Wesleyan as they went on to win 26-24.

The Battling Bishops won set three 25-6 and won the match in straight sets.

No one on either team had double-digit kills. Kaylee Freed led the Falcons with six kills and for N.C. Wesleyan, Callie Cline had nine.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday as they host the Meredith Avenging Angels at 7:00 p.m.
