MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Chris Kimura, who served on the Pfeiffer volleyball staff for four seasons, has announced his resignation. Kimura was an assistant with the Falcons for three seasons before being named the interim head coach earlier this fall.
"We are very sad to see Chris leave," said Vice President for Athletics Bob Reasso. "Chris has been a great servant for Pfeiffer over the last four years. We wish him the best of luck in his professional endeavors."
Kimura coached the women's program for four seasons and also helped to oversee the men for three years. Kimura helped guide the men to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and a Conference Carolinas Tournament title in 2015.
Kimura was counted on to run the day-to-day operation of both programs and was key to the Pfeiffer recruiting efforts. Additionally, Kimura ran the volleyball summer camps and also assisted with the team's fundraising endeavors.
"I would like to thank Pfeiffer University for the opportunity to start my collegiate coaching career," said Kimura. "I was able to get my first championship and NCAA appearance with the men and finish with the best record since 2013 with the women. I really think the program has the potential to be a contender in the USA South in the upcoming years."
The search for a head women's volleyball coach will begin immediately.
