Salem Blanks Pfeiffer Volleyball, 3-0

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Oct. 3, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team dropped a tough
3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 21-25) match to Salem College at Varsity Gym in Winston-Salem on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spirits improved to 8-6 and 6-1 in USA South play while Pfeiffer drops to 5-10 and 1-5 in league action.

The Falcons were held to just .087 hitting percentage on the night as Salem managed a .220 percentage and dominated the net with 10 block assists and three solo blocks.  Salem's Taylor Moulton managed 11 kills on the night while Pfeiffer's Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) had a match-best 12 kills.  Teammate Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) also had a good outing, registering 11 kills on the match. Setter Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) had 21 assists and an ace in the loss.

Defensively, Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) recorded 17 digs while Clouse also had nine.

Pfeiffer will return to Merner Gym on Saturday, hosting a USA South tri-match beginning at noon with a matchup against Mary Baldwin. Pfeiffer will also host N.C. Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
