JEFFERSON CITY, T.N. - Pitching struggles continued on Wednesday afternoon as Pfeiffer University suffered a 21-8 loss at the hands of host Carson-Newman College in baseball action at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex. The Eagles even to 18-18 overall while the Falcons fall to 17-15.

After the first three frames, Carson-Newman led 14-1 with innings of scoring four, six and four. A Dalton Lindley RBI-single would score Jacob Yates with his leadoff double in the third. Carson-Newman would add three more in their fourth before Pfeiffer put six up in the fifth.

Yates started with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Kevin Price's single. Jon Gray followed with his own base hit while Lindley came up and belted a three-run shot to left moments later. A Cole McGraw single and Preston Lyon double put runners at second and third, still with no one out, before Kyle Hackney got in on the action with his own RBI-single to plate McGraw. Matt Wade would bring in the final run of the frame with a base hit to score Lyon from third.

Carson-Newman would tack on two more runs in the sixth and eighth before the Falcons final run came on a Johnny Brown, Jr. RBI-double to bring home Lucas Signor. Signor started the inning with a leadoff single.

Pfeiffer gets back to action on Saturday and Sunday hosting Barton for a Conference Carolinas weekend series at Joe Ferebee Field. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon while Sunday's series-finale begins at 1:00 p.m.
