BREVARD, N.C. - Jaylon Debardlabon's three pointer with 18 seconds left to play lifted Brevard (3-7) over Pfeiffer (2-6) on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 69-67. The loss extended Pfeiffer's skid to three in a row, however, those defeats have come by a combined eight points. In total, four of Pfeiffer's six loses on the year have come by four or less points.

Pfeiffer had the final possession of the game with a chance to tie or take the lead but Silvere Aluko's layup was blocked, leaving the Falcons 0.3 seconds to execute an out of bounds play. Unfortunately, the inbounds pass was knocked away as the final buzzer went off.

Mike Smith scored a season-high 23 points and went a perfect 4-for-4 from long range in today's contest. Teammate AJ Clark added 20 points and Keith Jumper had his second double-digit rebounding effort of the season with 10 boards.

For the game, Pfeiffer hit a season-best eight three pointers and shot 61.5 percent from downtown as Clark and Smith each knocked down four triples.

Brevard was led by Trevon Shaw who scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half and finished with six rebounds and three assists. Darius Moose added 12 points and Brayden Masten had nine points off the bench.

A layup by Smith at the 8:00 mark gave Pfeiffer a 55-54 lead which the Falcons wouldn't relinquish until Debardlabon's three in the final moments. Pfeiffer extended the lead to five with 3:47 left after Smith's final bucket of the game. Later, two free throws by Shaw cut the Falcon lead to one but De'Vonte Jenkins answered with a three point play at the 2:08 mark to put Pfeiffer up 67-63. Moore responded with a three on the other end to trim the lead back to one. After a Pfeiffer turnover, Aluko had a clutch block with 1:07 to play, which gave possession back to the Falcons. Pfeiffer failed to convert, setting the stage for Brevard's game winner.

Smith scored 15 of his 23 in the first half and hit all four of his three pointers in the opening period. Shaw's jumper in the lane with three seconds left to play in the opening half gave Brevard a 35-32. Each team was hot from long range as the Tornados hit seven first half triples, while Pfeiffer went 5-for-8 (62.5 percent) from behind the arc.

For the game, Pfeiffer shot 43.1 percent from the field, while Brevard converted on 44.9 percent of their field goal attempts. Pfeiffer took a 35-28 advantage on the glass on the evening. The lead changed 17 times during the game and neither team led by more than six points.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Mars Hill at 4 p.m. inside Merner Gymnasium. It will be Pfeiffer's last home game for over a month as the Falcons embark on a six game road stretch to start 2015.
