MISENHEIMER, N.C. - A late, game tying jumper in the final second of Saturday's home game came up short, as Pfeiffer falls to Barton, 59-57. Though a loss, this meeting was closer than the previous one a month ago, with the Bulldogs winning that contest 66-49.

The loss now extends the Falcons (5-18, 4-15 CC) losing slide to eleven, placing them in a three-way tie for ninth place with Southern Wesleyan and Lees-McRae. Barton improves their record to 13-12, 12-6 CC.

Both teams were as evenly matched as possible, with both shooting about 40 percent from the floor and 64 percent from the free-throw line. Each team also recorded 34 rebounds and 18 turnovers.

Carlisha Holivay led the way for the Falcons with 12 points. Dajea Scott and Safia Sheikh both added 11 points, with Scott contributing big for the defense with 4 steals and 1 block. Kayla Whitworth came up short of having a double-double for her team, finishing with 9 points and 11 boards.

The Bulldogs Brianna Thomas put up the games only double-double with 12 points and a game high 14 boards. Kaila Lea and Tiffany Webster both scored game high totals with 14 points each.

Despite being down by 13 halfway through the first half, the game was never out of reach for the Falcons. Fighting their way back, Pfeiffer would eventually take the lead back twice midway through the second, thanks to a 3-point shot from Sheikh.

Down by 2 with less than a minute to go in the game, the Falcons Brianna Jones game tying shot to force overtime came up just short with less than a second on the clock.

The Falcons will be on the road Wednesday to Central, S.C. to take on Lees-Mcrae. Tipoff time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
