MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer baseball team (10-6) had a seven game win streak snapped this afternoon by Catawba (9-3) losing 8-4.
Cody McKenzie had a two hit game and extended his hitting streak to nine games.ÂÂ
Pfeiffer scored first in the in bottom of the first inning when McKenzie drew a leadoff walk. Following back-to-back sac bunts the Falcons had runners are second and third.
Izzy Perez drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Indians would answer back with a five run second, which included a three home run by Will Albertson to left center field. Catawba finished the inning scoring five runs on three hits.ÂÂ
Pfeiffer cut the four run deficit in half in the third inning when
Anthony Allende hit a two RBI single up the middle making the score 5-3. However, Catawba put the game out of reach in the fifth inning following a T.J. Warton 2-run home run that made the score 7-3.
The Falcons pushed one more run across in the sixth inning when
Zach Scudder drove in Perez with a single to left field.
Pfeiffer put the first two runners on base to start the bottom of the ninth with a
Connor Baldy double and a McKenzie single, but were not able to push any runs across.
Pfeiffer stays at home for a three game series with Mount Olive February 25-28. The first game is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25.
