FOREST CITY, N.C. - The Pfeiffer baseball team (2-2) suffered a tough 13-5 loss at the hands of Brevard (2-1) at McNair Stadium on a chilly Wednesday evening. The Tornados pounded out 13 hits in the win and scored the first 10 runs of the game.
Anthony Allende started and took the loss as he lasted just 1.2 innings. James Phillips earned his first win of the season as he allowed just one earned run in five innings.
John Elwood scored twice out of the leadoff spot for the Falcons and reached base twice. Cole McGraw went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Allende went 2-for-2 with a run and two walks with the bat.
The Tornados scored three times in the top of the first and five more in their second at bat. The Falcons tallied a two-spot in the bottom of the fifth on two hits and an error. Elwood led off the inning with a base hit to right center and Cody McKenzie reached on an error. Elwood would score on McGraw's RBI single and McKenzie came home as Pfeiffer grounded into a double play.
Pfeiffer added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Dylan Norris, Craig Jacobelli, Josh Branch, Tyler Lequire and Jesse Park each pitched at least one inning in relief. Jacobelli was particularly effective, tossing three innings and allowing just one run. Park threw a perfect ninth inning.
The Falcons look to bounce back this weekend as they head to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on North Georgia for a three game series. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 5 p.m.
