SALISBURY, N.C. - On Tuesday evening, the Pfeiffer baseball team (22-14) knocked off its second consecutive ranked opponent as the Falcons handed No. 12 Catawba (27-6) just their sixth loss of the season with a decisive 11-4 victory. Over their past four games, Pfeiffer's opponents (No. 2 Erskine and the Indians) have a combined 54-11 record but the Falcons went 3-1 in those four games.

The Falcons were better in every aspect of the game against the Indians this evening. Pfeiffer had 13 hits and didn't commit an error, while Catawba had just six hits and made six errors.

Keith Little went 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on three hits. The Pfeiffer bullpen combined for 4.1 innings and allowed just one run on three hits. Craig Jacobelli, Zach Huneycutt and Hunter Jobe kept the Indians off balance and didn't allow any chance of a comeback by the hosts.

Pfeiffer took control very early and never looked back. In the top of the first, Izzy Perez crushed his ninth homer of the season as his three run blast gave Pfeiffer the lead. In the second, the Falcons hung another three spot on the board thanks to three hits and two errors and took the 6-0 advantage.

Pfeiffer put another crooked number on the board in the third. Cole McGraw launched a solo homer to start the inning and Dylan Goodman scored on an error to put Pfeiffer up 8-0. The Indians committed four errors in the first three innings that led to four unearned runs.

Catawba cut the lead to 8-3 with a three-run bottom of the fifth but Pfeiffer had a quick answer. In the top of the sixth, Perez hit his second three run bomb of the night as the senior increased his season totals to 10 HR and his 40th RBI, both ranking in the top five in the conference.

Anthony Allende finished the contest with three hits in four at bats to go with two runs scored and a RBI. John Ellwood and McGraw each had two hits and scored a run for the Falcons.

Over the weekend, Pfeiffer took two of three at Erskine. In total, the Falcons are 7-1 over their last eight games and look to continue the hot streak with a three game weekend series at North Greenville. The opening game of the weekend is at Greenville Drive Stadium at 7 p.m.
