BREVARD, N.C. - Behind a 56 point first half, the Pfeiffer men's basketball team improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season with an 82-58 win at Brevard (0-3) on Wednesday night. Junior Josh Calhoun had a game-high 22 points and knocked down six three pointers to lead the Falcons to victory.

The Falcons sprinted ahead early and never looked back in the one-sided contest. Competing away from home for the first time this season, Pfeiffer scored 25 of the game's first 31 points to take a commanding lead. The Falcons shot 48.6 percent in the first half and went into the break with a 56-17 advantage. Calhoun scored 14 of his 22 in the opening frame and converted four triples.

Brevard was able to cut the 39-point halftime deficit down but ended up losing by 24 points.

The difference in the game came from long range as Pfeiffer converted on 11 three pointers, compared to just five for the Tornados. Also, Pfeiffer went 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the charity stripe, while Brevard struggled at a 43.8 percent clip (7-for-16).

Brevard held a slight 37-33 edge on the boards but Pfeiffer's constant pressure defense forced Brevard to make 28 turnovers. Pfeiffer converted those turnovers into 36 points in the victory.

Andrew Guerrero added 12 points for the Falcons and A.J. Clark chipped in nine. Keith Jumper paced the team with seven rebounds and Clark added a team-high four assists.

The three straight wins to start the season is the Falcons best start to a season in 10 years. The 2006-07 squad started the campaign 8-0 and were ranked No. 11 in the nation before suffering their first defeat.

The Falcons look to stay hot as they open Conference Carolinas play next Tuesday evening inside Merner Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
